I grew up in an athletic family. My dad helped found the lacrosse program at his college and went on to coach at the high school level for 40 years. My sister was a three-sport varsity athlete.
The only time I played on a varsity team was when there was only a varsity team. But I was the captain of the JV volleyball team my sophomore, junior, and senior years. At the time, being the only senior on the JV team was a huge blow to my 17-year-old ego.
I have come to realize that I had the opportunity to teach and mentor girls younger than me who had never played on an organized sports team. I might not have been a star, but I was a leader.
I am passionate about helping organizations clarify their mission, find their voice, and tell the stories that allow them to change the world.
